Field of View FOV in video games determines the viewing arc, or how much you can see when you're playing. When creating a game, designers have to decide how wide to make this arc.

For most FPS console games, that arc is usually around 60 degrees.

This setting is determined based on the average size of the TV that gamers will use and the average distance from the TV the players will be sitting. The player generally sits much closer to the screen when it comes to PC games. The screen is also much smaller—this default FOV tends to result in a very claustrophobic view. It can feel like you have blinders on the side of your head and, for many, this results in headaches and motion sickness.

Skyrim's default setting is 65 degrees, which is great for consoles—but not so great for PC gamers. Fortunately, it is possible to change this setting by editing the Skyrim. Read on to learn how. This setting should persist through opening and closing the map, fast traveling, and sprinting as long as you don't change the FOV in the console. Changing the FOV using the console command has a tendency to revert the FOV back to its default when any of these situations occur.

Before deciding on a particular FOV, you will probably want to try some out in-game. You can change the FOV setting in-game by using the console. Many players find that using the console command to set the FOV tends to produce very unreliable results. Opening the map, fast traveling, and sprinting, have all been known to reset the FOV back to the default. While it isn't difficult to reset, it can be annoying to have to readjust it every time you use one of these features.

For this reason, it is generally better to use the Skyrim. Pick a setting you like using the console, then exit, edit the Skyrim. If you need to edit it, adjust the ini file instead.

There is a a lot of discussion about the problem on the web and nexus forums.

I think Verdant or Skyrim Flora Overhaul might. Another great playspace tip is to keep a small office chair or stool nearby, or maybe an ottoman or your couch in the living room, that you can quickly use for seated moments like horseback riding, carriage rides, or roleplaying in your house and tavern. If you open up your in-game settings there are a lot of options in here that can help make it more immersive.

The first thing you should do to make Skyrim VR feel more immersive is, without a doubt, turn off the music. As amazing as the soundtrack is, it just gets in the way of the immersion too much. Sometimes the draw distance is a bit crummy with trees and mountains and other objects, so this actually adds some atmospheric fog in the distance around mountains.

Since I'm getting just under 50 FPS from the above location according to Frapsand that or more elsewhere, I'd like to sacrifice a few of those to improve the visual quality a little bit by making the game draw things further away.

After a quick web search I see lots of talk of modifying ini files, but many of these talk about options without really explaining them. I get the feeling that the other recent Bethesda games have been tweaked like this before and so the tweakers write guides for those already in the know roughly how all this works. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people, and I don't really want to wade through tonnes of info and test tonnes of tweaks until I find the right combination. So, what ini changes or any other method!

This will increase RAM usage and load times but not too significantly. From what I read, it must be an odd number and too high values will crash the game if it runs out of RAM, you can apparently hack the exe to be large address aware to avoid this, but I didn't fancy messing with that. I selected 9 as this produced the nice image above, but doesn't yet seem to be causing any crashes for me.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts.
